Fleetwood Mac in 250 words (ish)
Fleetwood Mac are a British American band formed in London in 1967. The have sold more than 120 million records worldwide and are associated with various genres such as rock, blues and pop.

Their name originates from their drummer Mick Fleetwood and bass guitarist John McVie. The band has famously had many line-up changes and tensions however Fleetwood and McVie have remained.

They began as one of the blues-revival bands of the late 60’s with Peter Green quickly becoming a big star as their front man and primary songwriter of many hits including their 1968 number one, Albatross.

Following Green’s departure in 1970 and many subsequent line-up changes, they enjoyed their most successful period from 1974 shifting to a rock sound with the addition of Lindsey Buckingham and girlfriend Stevie Nicks adding to Fleetwood, McVie and his then wife, Christine McVie.

In 1977 their critically acclaimed album ‘Rumours’ was released. By 2003 it had sold over 19 million copies in the US alone making it one of the best-selling albums of the 70’s. Its popularity was often associated with the songs that were born from relationship issues within the band at the time.

The Rumours line up recorded 3 more albums including the 1987 ‘Tango in The Night’ which has sold 15 million worldwide. The band have been awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, a Grammy in 1978 and a Brit in 1998 amongst many other accolades.

They continue to tour with Neil Finn (Crowded House) and Mike Campbell (Tom Petty) replacing Buckingham after he was ‘fired’ from the band.

There's one big thing that sets us apart from our competition. We do it all for free. From the very beginning our aim was to create a radio station we would want to listen to. Twenty two years later and Forest Radio is the fastest growing internet radio stations in Essex. But in order for us to continue playing the good time oldies we need your help.

Reggae is a musical genre that originated from Jamaica and gained popularity in the 1960s. The genre was highly influenced by American jazz, ska, rocksteady and rhythm and blues. Usually, reggae music is off beat, has a slow tempo and is drum and bass heavy. Lyrics often were politicised and stressed the social and economic injustices in the world. The genre is often linked to Rastafarianism and has spread to countries across the world. Reggae spread to the UK in the 70s and influenced bands such as UB40, Steel Pulse and Aswad. Desmond Dekker, Bob Marley and the Wailers and UB40 are three of the most influential and successful reggae artists of all time. See below a little about each artist.
